Regarding the current situation at the Highland Post Office, residents should be aware that the Township isn’t connected to the Post Office in any way, but we wanted to share some things we have heard:
- There was a fire in the lobby at the Highland Post Office on December 26th.
- According to news articles, there should be a truck with a staff person near the post office weekdays from 10am-2pm, though it might be best to get there before 1pm. Those who have PO Boxes can pick up mail that has come in after the fire. It’s been reported that mail that was in the building at the time of the fire has contamination issues and is not being released at this time. The Township cannot explain or assist with resolving this issue in any way.
- Postal Mail Drop Boxes have apparently been removed from the post office property. Residents can use the mailboxes in the parking lot by Rite Aide or the one at the Highland Township Office (at our temporary location – 250 West Livingston Rd)
